PROBLEM:
Documenting complex social issues for a global broadcaster like NPR required technical precision and deep cultural sensitivity. The challenge was maintaining high-quality visual and audio documentation while navigating dynamic field environments across diverse Indian communities.
SOLUTION:
I worked as a multidisciplinary production support member, assisting with camera and lighting setups, field sound recording, and on-site documentation. I also supported multilingual translation and transcription of field recordings, helping ensure cultural accuracy and editorial clarity for NPR’s global audience.
CHALLENGE:
Maintaining world-class technical integrity for a global audience of 14 million NPR listeners required navigating sensitive cultural environments while operating in high-pressure field conditions. The project demanded seamless coordination across photography, sound capture, and linguistic documentation to ensure 100% journalistic accuracy.
SUMMARY:
Supporting the production team across multiple roles helped ensure the series met NPR’s rigorous international broadcast standards. The project reached a global audience and strengthened my ability to manage field logistics, technical coordination, and narrative sensitivity in high-stakes documentary storytelling.
